“I had the pleasure of working with Finbar for a licensed Disney card game where he provided all new custom illustrations. We needed an illustrator that could not just copy old Disney animation style, but also give it a more modern, enhanced feel. After an exhaustive search we came across Finbar and immediately knew we found our illustrator.
He was extremely easy to work with, very receptive to art direction and made the time to meet via ZOOM if necessary. The time difference between New York and Germany was a benefit as we would receive illustrations in the morning, review throughout the day and send directions which would be swiftly implemented for the next morning. He followed our aggressive timelines without any issues and was nimble enough to make revisions from unexpected licensor notes.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with Finbar on future projects.”

“Finbar has an eye for detail and storytelling that is at a level difficult to come by and very important to the work we do in board game development. His ability to understand a brief and quickly provide first sketches along with how well he digests comments and direction show top notch communication skills. Finbar is also easy to contact and does fast turnarounds. That alone is priceless.”

“I had the pleasure of working with Finbar Coyle at the Brown Bag Films’ 2D Studio in Manchester. Not only is Finbar a talented designer, he’s a first rate human being. He did some fantastic character design work for us on both Nella The Princess Knight and Powerbirds. He responds well to feedback and is always quick with a smile. I’m happy to recommend him. Any studio would be lucky to have him.”

William GordonSeries Director at Brown Bag Films

“I have worked with Finbar as his animation director on high profile shows for the likes of Cartoon Network, Disney and BBC. Finbar is a fantastic animator and has since excelled in the area of props and character design. Where most people start and maintain a single discipline, Finbar’s work as an animator has informed his brilliant design work and vice versa. His in-depth knowledge of these departments proves him to be an incredibly efficient member of a crew and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him for any design position.”

Paul O’FlanaganSenior Television Director at Boulder Media

“Finbar is an amazing artist and a true professional. He was the ideal person to be the character designer on Alva and the Oolies, I was blown away by his designs. His turnaround time was always extremely fast and the level of work achieved was exceptional. He is a wonderful team player, whether working on site or remotely. He handled feedback well whether from myself or from our Art Director Graham Corcoran. I definitely hope to work with Finbar again.”

“I had the pleasure of working with Finbar at Kavaleer Productions when he was the character designer on our current production Alva and the Trolls. Finbar is incredibly talented and hard working. He has a great eye for detail and he really helped to define the style of our show with his fantastic character designs. He is also a real team player and would be an asset to any production crew.”

Sarah Jane KearnsProduction Manager at Kavaleer Productions

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Finbar on several occasions over the past few years and have been consistently impressed by his talent for concept and character design, to say nothing of the speed with which he executes iterative drafts and the immense breadth of styles he seems to be able to effortlessly turn his hand to. This past year he’s turned out concept art for preschool nursery rhymes, sensitive and harrowing character concept art for a feature film about Syrian refugees and instantly recognisable images of Irish rugby players for an animated series on mental health. Whereas Finbar is the very definition of versatile on the clock, his own personal style is highly distinctive and encapsulates new ideas for animated shows, reimagining of timeless classics and stand-alone art pieces that are both beautiful and perfectly executed. He’s a joy to work with and an inspiration to watch.”
